In the beginning there was a dream …
Of endless trails & a community of people who loved to ride bikes.
The Huntsville Area Mountain bike Riders (HAMR), formerly SORBA-Huntsville, is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit based in Huntsville as a chapter of SORBA (Southern Off-road Bicycling Association) supporting mountain bike advocacy, the building and maintenance of trails for multiple users, and serving as a resource for the mountain bike community of North Alabama. Our members come from Huntsville, Madison, Decatur, Athens, Guntersville and all points in between.
Our chapter was founded in 2005 as a part of our parent organization SORBA.
HAMR partners with land managers at The Land Trust of North Alabama, Monte Sano State Park, the city of Huntsville, Tennessee Valley Authority, Forever Wild, and private land owners to create and maintain trails and trail systems for mountain bikers and hikers to enjoy.
