HAMR’s Professional Mountain Bike Instructors Association (PMBIA) certified volunteer instructors are here to teach us how to keep our wheels down and build confidence while shredding the trails!
Level 1 instructor Erin McMahon teaches beginner and intermediate courses.
Level 2 instructor Donovan Johnson (owner of Southeast Shreds, LLC) teaches beginner through advanced courses.
All clinic prices are a donation directly back to your local trails and mountain bike community!
Beginner Skills Clinic for ages 13 and up
Saturday, March 29th from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM at Monte Sano State Park

The clinic begins at 9:00. Participants should meet at the bikers lot pavilion.
The morning will start with a check-in, creating name plates, and then an overview of bike and gear checks to perform before every ride.
We will be covering the basics: Shifting, braking, body/bike positioning, and more in the morning before heading out to practice your new skills on appropriate trails in the afternoon!
It is preferred that clinic participants should be in flat pedals (not clipped in) and all participants must wear a helmet.
Lunch will be provided.
$5 or an annual park pass is required for park entrance.

Intermediate Skills clinic with Erin for ages 13 and up
Sunday, March 30th from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM at Monte Sano State Park
The clinic begins at 9:00. Participants should meet at the bikers lot pavilion.
The morning will start with a check-in, creating name plates, and then an overview of bike and gear checks including basic suspension setup.
Skills covered will include wheel lifts, roll-downs, cornering, switchbacks, and more. Riders should be comfortable riding all top trails at Monte Sano, and be ready to start tackling specifics such as the switchbacks on Sinks trail. Intermediate riders should ride in either flat pedals or clipless, whichever they most typically prefer to ride in.
Lunch will be provided and we’ll wrap up around 3:00.

Advanced Skills Clinic with Donovan for ages 13 and up
Sunday March 30th from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM at Monte Sano State Park

The clinic begins at 9:00. Participants should meet at the bikers lot pavilion.
The morning will start with a check-in, creating name plates, and then an overview of bike and gear checks including basic suspension setup (along with the intermediate class).
Donovan will then take advanced participants out for advanced skills practice including topics such as advanced cornering techniques, manuals, drops, jumps, etc.
It is preferred that clinic participants should be in flat pedals (not clipped in) and all participants must wear a helmet.
