Redstone Arsenal Trails

Recreation badge holders may access trails through Gates 8 or 9 between the hours of 5:30 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. daily.

Best for: Intermediate through Advanced riders.

These trails are on a secured military base, but offer some of the most diverse riding around on 36 miles of trail (and some connector greenway).

Proper identification is necessary to access the installation. A recreational pass can be obtained by US citizens and is valid for a year.

The Redstone Rocket paper featured these trails in an article in 2022! The trails are maintained through a collaborative effort with both HAMR and the Redstone Arsenal Mountain bike Pedalers (RAMP).

You will find plenty of hand-built singletrack, with rocks and roots galore!

Popular starting locations include:

Fox Army Medical Center - climb up Foxtrot and Patriot to get your blood flowing on a technical climb before choosing your adventure from there.

Madkin Mountain Road Parking - drive up the gravel Madkin Mountain Road to a parking lot featuring a few wooden obstacles built by RAMP. This gives you easy access to the plateau trails: Madkin and Weeden loops for a slightly less challenging experience!
