HAMR’s Annual Epic Trip

An Epically Fun Getaway

Our 2025 trip will be to the Pisgah region of North Carolina!

May 22-26 (Memorial Day weekend)

These epic outings are for HAMR members! Join or renew your membership!

Costs will be split between all members participating. HAMR will provide the main dish at our cookout Saturday night, plus route options and ride leaders/sweeps for rides.

Ride Details:

Thursday: take your time getting into town - we have two 16-person campsites at Davidson River campground available! Optional: hit the Tsali trail system on our way into town!

Friday: Head over to DuPont for our ride today! Note that eBikes are not allowed in DuPont.

Saturday: We’ll ride from our campsites on some of the most popular trails in the Pisgah region, including Black Mountain! Note that eBikes are not allowed within the Pisgah Forest. Cookout at camp Saturday evening.

Sunday: Options! Head over to Bent Creek for more XC fun, OR to Kanuga Bike Park for a pedal park! eBikes ARE allowed and are available to rent at Kanuga!

Monday: another optional short ride in the morning from the camp before packing up to head home.

Lodging

We’re staying at the Davidson Campground within easy biking distance of some of Pisgah’s best trails! This is a primitive campsite! The facility does provide hot showers and flush toilets, though.

Two 16-person campsites are booked - we recommend carpooling as much as possible!

Alternatively, you can certainly look for Airbnb options nearby!

Trails

We’ll have ride options to suit a variety of skill levels and preferences over the long weekend! Check out Trailforks to start getting a feel for the area!

Note that eBikes are NOT allowed in the National Forest, to include all of Pisgah and DuPont.

Family Time

If you want to bring a partner/spouse/friend/children who are not mountain bikers, this is a great opportunity for them, too!  There are plenty of hiking opportunities nearby, plus museums, shopping, and more in Brevard.

Gathering Time

HAMR will provide the main dish for a cookout at the campground Saturday night.  BYOB and a side to share if you'd like!  We'll go out as a group other nights.  Breakfast and lunch is on you - pack something to have trailside in the afternoons and to cook for breakfast in the mornings!  Make sure you also have plenty of water for the weekend!
